When ripe, this citrus fruit has a peel that ranges in color from pale green to bright yellow. The peel feels thick and rough to the touch. It may also be wrinkled or bumpy on the surface. Its flesh is juicy and very tart. This fruit is rich in vitamin C.

There are different varieties:

• Primofiori: This variety has an intensely tart flavor. The flesh of these fruits contains a lot of juice. As for the skin, it is light yellow in color and fairly thin.
• Verna: This variety has smooth, yellow skin and firm, juicy flesh, although it is less tart than the Primofiori variety.
• Lime: This variety has green skin. Its flesh is more acidic than that of yellow lemons.
• Nice Lemon: This fruit, native to France, is bright yellow in color. It has a high juice content and high acidity.
