Chili peppers are small, often pointed fruits with a more or less spicy flavor; the term “bell pepper” refers to large, sweet fruits. The term “sweet chili pepper,” which is sometimes used, is reserved for small, pointed, non-spicy fruits that are sold exclusively fresh. Bell peppers differ in shape and the thickness of their flesh. They have thick, crisp flesh that is slightly sweet.
