Check out our pomegranates!

The pomegranate is one of the oldest known fruits. It has been harvested for millennia throughout the Mediterranean region.

A pomegranate weighs, on average, between 300 and 350 grams. As it grows, the fruit initially resembles an apple and is green in color. Then, over time, its color changes from green to an orange-red as it ripens. Its garnet-pink flesh is juicy, sweet, and slightly tart. The “seeds” we eat are called arils. Pomegranates are almost always eaten raw, though there are a few exceptions.

There are many varieties of pomegranates:

  • Mollar: This is the most popular variety and one of the most widely grown in Spain. It is generally quite large. On the outside, its color can range from light red to a darker red. Its arils are tender and juicy, which makes their sweet flavor even more enjoyable.
