An orange weighs 200 grams on average. Its flavorful, juicy flesh—a pale orange color—is hidden beneath a thick, shiny skin that is a deeper orange, verging on red.

• The bitter orange, also known as a bigarade because it comes from the bitter orange tree, is a citrus fruit smaller than the sweet orange. Its orange peel is rough, thick, and tinged with green. Its flesh is not very juicy, is tart, and contains many seeds. It is grown in Spain (Seville) as well as in the south of France.
• The Maltese orange is medium-sized, slightly oval in shape, with an easy-to-peel skin, tender and very juicy flesh that is virtually seedless, and a flavor that is both sweet and slightly tart, making it a truly unique orange. It is native to Tunisia.
• The Valencia orange is a "blonde" variety, medium in size, with thin skin and plenty of juice. It can sometimes be slightly tart.
• The Lane Late orange is pale in color and has a fairly thin peel. Its flesh is firm yet tender, as well as juicy and sweet.
• The Naveline orange has a pleasant flavor, and its flesh is tender, firm, and sweet. It is very juicy, low in acidity, and contains very few seeds, if any.
• Grown primarily in Spain, North Africa, and Italy,the blood orange is a delicious variety of citrus fruit. It looks like an orange on the outside, but its red flesh gives it this surprising name. It is a very fragrant and juicy fruit that easily wins people over with its sweet, slightly tart flavor.
• The Salustiana orange is the quintessential juice orange. It is also unique in that it has very few seeds, if any at all. Its flavor is mild and sweet.
